Polycystic ovary syndrome - weight loss

Weight loss
Women with PCOS who are overweight face a difficult battle but it is one that is definitely worth it. Weight loss will regulate your periods, improve hairiness, increase your fertility and reduce the risk of heart disease. There is no simple diet that will work for you, but the following should form the basis:

  • Strict calorie reduction combined with aerobic exercise
  • A supervised programme can help
  • Specialist dietician advice may be available
  • A long-term approach rather than a quick fix - you need the weight off for life
